A fairly windy day has brought us up here to Bilsborrow, which is a handy mooring for the services and there are one or two nearby shops. The Lancaster canal doesn’t seem that deep generally and in fact on bridge 40 we seemed to be scraping the bottom as it prevented me from turning as I passed under the bridge, necessitating a hasty blast in reverse to prevent us running into the canal bank. The scenery is improving all the time with the Pennines visible in the distance and, as we get further up, the Lake District will also be visible.

Tomorrow I think it will probably be as far as Garstang.
