Here we are, back to the summit pound of the South Oxford
canal after a gentle day’s locking. The forecast had been for no rain but about
lunchtime a deluge came down so we stopped for a leisurely lunch break. I have
to say that I do quite like these narrow locks of the South Oxford, they seem
to have long entrances to the lock which enables me to get off as we approach
the lock and then walk the boat in rather than the method on the broader locks
of taking the boat into the lock and then having to climb the lock ladder to
secure it.
The next ten miles of canal is pleasant but a bit
circuitous, when we move on it will be to Marston Doles lock
