Woking

Here I am Rune
Distance 4.3 miles
Total 1994 Locks  90 Tunnels
Running total mileage 2816.1miles

Working it out we have now travelled on 5 different Navigation Authority waters over the past 4 days. No Thursday we were on CRT waters, followed by Port of London Authority and then Environment Agency when we reached Teddington. We then went onto National Trust waterways when we entered the River Wey and now we are on Basingstoke Canal waterways. This is probably the most that can be achieved in such a short space of time.

Despite the lack of depth, I am quite enjoying the Basingstoke canal. The scenery is very pleasant and it had the additional challenge of passing through the Woking Festival today where there were a lot of keen boaters but various levels of skill! There is a group running a ‘water bus’ to carry visitors to the festival site but it seems to be manned with keen volunteers rather than able boatmen. We have worked our way through them but it has been interesting.
We are now moored opposite the Beefeater pub in Woking and will probably remain here until Thursday when we are booked to go through the next set of locks.
