So for our last day on the Basingstoke Canal we are back to the mooring below lock 1 for the night. We can’t go further because our licence to use the River Wey doesn’t begin until tomorrow but we shouldn’t inconvenience anyone by mooring here since the next boat going up the flight of locks wont be until Tuesday.

The day went reasonably well, weather was fine and we got through the locks in just over an hour. Had a chat with the Lockkeeper who came to seal up the lock at the end of the day and he tells me that the canal is now open again after the showers of rain that we had on Saturday although he only expects to stay open until Friday unless there is more rain to come.
