As planned, we cruised through to Bentley Bridge, although we have slightly amended our cruising plan so that we’ll stay here for an extra day and go down the Wolverhampton 21 on Thursday as light showers are forecast for tomorrow. There are worse places to have to moor since there is a nearby swimming pool, bowling alley and numerous shops. Had also to do some running repairs when arrived here as, once again, the domestic alternator failed. As I’m now kind of used to this I carry both a spare alternator regulator and two spare alternators and at the moment have just changed the regulator on the installed alternator to see if that fixes the problem. That is another reason for remaining here tomorrow, so that I can run the engine up to temperature to makes sure that the problem is fixed before we move off. If it isn’t I’ll be back in the engine hole tomorrow to use my spare new alternator.
We also had our first proper trip down the weed hatch as we entered Wolverhampton (welcome to Wolverhampton!!) to recover a 12 foot length of white packing material that had halted our progress.
So tomorrow it will hopefully be a swim in the nearby pool, possibly a game of bowling and then set off on our travels again on Thursday
