Wootten Wawen

Here I am Rune
Distance  3.3 miles
Total 3411 Locks  185 Tunnels
Running total mileage 4948.3 miles

A fairly relaxed day of just over 3 miles and one lock, that wasn’t the original intention but as we were passing through Wootten Wawen we saw a boat moored that we have met up with the crew of on a number of occasions, ‘Lindy Lou’ with Vic, Linda and the dog Eric, so we moored up to catch up with them. Since we are in no rush to get anywhere, it is no problem to stop early today.

The only notable part of the canal we’ve come across today was the passage across Edstone Aqueduct, which, like the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, is just an iron trough with no guardrail on the non-towpath side which, given my dislike of heights, encourages me to stand on the towpath side of the boat whilst crossing the aqueduct.

Tomorrow we’ll probably go as far as Kingswood Junction.
