Braunston

Here I am Rune
Distance 7.7 miles
Total 2290 Locks  102 Tunnels
Running total mileage 3333.9 miles

We have done better than ‘the outskirts of Braunston’ today we’ve moored in the middle of Braunston just outside of the marina. Quite a lot of boats on the move today, probably because of the school half term, and since the weather was quite pleasant it was a good day’s cruise. On arrival at Braunston we had the annual decision to make at this time of year, how much coal should we get? You can guarantee that whatever decision you make, it will be the wrong one. If you only get a few bags of coal the cold weather persists until May but if you get stocked up with coal, a warm spring starts at the beginning of March. We have gone for the latter option and stocked up with 150kg of coal so it will probably warm up starting on Monday!

The next provisions stop we will need to make is at Calcutt marina to refuel before we head north to Birmingham, I need to check whether they are open on Sunday otherwise we will just be making a 3 mile trip tomorrow only as far as Flecknoe.
