A pleasant days cruising from All Cannings to Wootton Rivers,
dodging a variety of canoes passing on their way towards Westminster. Today has
been the day for the hard core canoeists who do the 125 mile course non-stop,
and I would have to say that they have my every respect since it amounts to
about 20 continuous paddling, the record for the course is about 15½ hours,
which is incredible.
We have two more locks to go tomorrow to the summit, from
then to Reading it is all downhill, and by way of an additional novelty, we
have a proper, although short, tunnel tomorrow at Bruce Tunnel.
On the way to Wootton Rivers we have once again passed the
White Horse near to Honey Street, (photo below). If the weather holds, the hope
is to be at Crofton for tomorrow night.
