We had the necessity of getting the weekend shop this morning before casting off so the start was a bit delayed until about 11.15am. It was only a mile to Harecastle Tunnel where we had missed the convoy going north so we then had about an hour’s wait before the next passage through (the one we had missed were already halfway through and there were two coming south after they’d got through). By lunchtime then we’d only got as far as the Macclesfield mooring above Red Bull  Locks. After lunch we completed the trip to pretty much where I wanted to be, moored not far from a Chinese takeway in Congleton!

The passage through Harecastle tunnel went pretty well taking about 40 minutes, surprisingly the boat that followed us through took nearly 55 minutes and it was quite a short boat, I hadn’t realised that he had dropped that far behind. This was my 5 passage through Harecastle, only one of which has been going in a southerly direction.

Tomorrow we have the flight of Bosley Locks to do, at the top of the locks is a shower block that I will take full advantage of.
