Again a fairly straightforward days cruise back to the same mooring we had in Shirley. The canal is shallow in places and by a residential block called Water’s Edge it became very shallow as I met a boat coming from the other direction and couldn’t get past, partly because a tree has been allowed to grow halfway across the canal and partly because the navigable channel at that point was too narrow. I had to reverse back about 100 metres to where we were clear of the trees and the channel was wider.

Stopped again at Wedges, the excellent bakery at Hockley Heath, this time to get some pasty’s for tonights tea. The plan for tomorrow will be to get back into Birmingham for the weekend shopping.
