Another gentle trip along the Caldon Canal back down to Endon. Because the water is fed into the canal at Leek it is slightly quicker coming back down going with the flow rather than travelling up against it. It is interesting that they have made the corners that are a bit problematic for upstream traffic, a lot easier for downstream traffic. Going upstream there are at least three points where you have to take quite a wide sweep to get into a narrow channel whereas coming downstream you are coming out of the narrow channel into the wider bit.

I would guess/hope that tomorrow we should be back Etruria ready to head on up the Trent and Mersey towards Middlewich.
