Bentley Bridge

Here I am Rune
Distance  12.7 miles
Total 3533 Locks  218 Tunnels
Running total mileage 5140.2 miles

At last, after the longest stop since we’ve had the boat, we are now back on the move properly. Interestingly we have managed to travel on 5 separate canals today, Dudley no 2 Canal, Netherton Tunnel Branch, New Main line, Old Main line and now we are a mile or so along the Wyrley and Essington at Bentley Bridge. This mooring was the choice because we have been able to get the weekend groceries in as once we’ve gone down the Wolverhampton flight of locks tomorrow there is a bit of a dearth of major supermarkets until we are a fair way up the Shropshire Union.

It was good to be back on the move again with a refresher of lock work at Factory Locks, although after we’ve gone down the Wolverhampton flight tomorrow we will be well back into the swing of it. The weather for today was a lot better than forecast, it should have been heavy rain and windy, we had showers but managed to get through the locks without getting rained on. The only place the wind was a minor issue was actually getting out of Hawne Basin as the wind tends to swirl around there a bit.

Early to bed to night to prepare for a bit of locking tomorrow
