Distance Travelled 15.4 Miles
Total:- 46 Locks 4 Tunnels
At last after a week in the marina waiting for the repair to
the alternator we are back on the move again, and now heading south. As it was
a five mile trip each way to Market Harborough for supplies whilst we were
stuck in the marina, I have become intimately related with the route from the
marina to Harborough and am glad we are now away from it and into a different
county. It is not that different however since we are about half a mile from
Yelvertoft Marina where we originally set out from but hopefully tomorrow we
start to break new ground passing through Crick tunnel and on towards Watford Locks
(near to Watford Gap Services on the M1 motorway) and down to Norton Junction
where we turn to head towards Braunstone and the Oxford Canal.
The only point of interest today was our second passage through
Husbands Bosworth tunnel, which at 1171 yards is a long dark hole! It is odd
that passing through Saddington Tunnel we were pretty much alone but on both
passages through Husbands Bosworth tunnel we have passed oncoming traffic in
the middle, quite an interesting experience, especially when the second boater
did not put his tunnel light on, and in an unlit tunnel that makes him pretty
much invisible until he comes into range of my tunnel light! Oddly enough,
despite such things, I do quite like tunnels as they are something a bit
different.
