We have now reached the end of the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal (for those not going through the lock and out onto the tidal Severn). I have to say that I’m quite a fan of the canal, the countryside is pleasant, the navigation easy and all the bridges are worked for you! It is certainly a canal that I’d return to.

The original plan for the day was to cruise down to Sharpness for lunch then back to Purton to have a look at the beached hulks and moor for the night. This plan changed when we decided that the mooring at Sharpness was pleasant enough to moor for the night with a nice outlook across the river.

Tomorrow we set off back up the canal towards Gloucester.
