Linton on Ouse

Here I am Rune
Distance 10.1 miles
Total 2795 Locks  130 Tunnels
Running total mileage 3881.7 miles

Only 2 ½ hours of travelling today to get us from Boroughbridge to Linton Lock which is about halfway to York. We set off quite, not until after lunch, since we needed to get the weekend shop done and, whilst at Boroughbridge, take the opportunity to visit the Roman Town at Aldborough, which is the nest village along. There is quite of excavation still to be done on the site but there are a couple of well-preserved mosaics on display along with a lot of Roman artefacts found on the site.
The trip back down the Rivers Ure and Ouse (actually both the same river!) was quicker than the trip up against the current. We were averaging about 4.4miles per hour with the current as opposed to 3.4 mph when going against it.

After the overnight stop here we hope to find a mooring in York tomorrow with a view to staying until Tuesday or Wednesday before going back for the trials of the tidal Ouse back to Selby.
