Once again another day with the recurrent theme of river weed. I think however that our trip up on Friday has helped to cut some of the weed since I only had to go down the weed hatch three times to clear the propeller shaft, as opposed to probably a dozen times going up to Melbourne. Even with a slightly easier trip through the weed it has still taken us 4 hours and 15 minutes to cover the 4.8 miles from Melbourne, average speed of about 1.4 miles per hour, which is beyond slow.

Tomorrow we go through Cottingwith Lock and back onto the River Derwent and, unless there is some disaster, we should be back at Barmby Tidal Barrage in about 3 hours, so a fairly easy day’s cruise.

The weed doesn't look any better on the way back either......
