Once again, a gentle cruise along the River Soar from
Loughborough to Zouch Lock passing through the picturesque village of Normanton
on Soar. We managed to team up with another boat through the two locks that we
did today but since we were following another pair of boat along the river it didn’t
really speed things up that much. The stop at Zouch lock was as much about an
impending rain storm as anything else. It is fairly flat along here and it was
possible to see the rain a while before it hit. The canal cut at Zouch seemed
to be a good choice of stop, particularly since it absolutely bucketed down
with rain within 10 minutes of stopping.
Tomorrow I would expect to get up onto the Erewash canal.

We really enjoyed the Erewash last year and apart from the edges being a bit shallow for mooring found it very pleasant.

WE're up onto the Erewash now, moored at Sandiacre. As you say it is a very pleasant canal so far.
