We are back to our ‘pottering’ speed along the canal with a daily mileage of 7 miles now that we have kept our appointment for blacking the boat. We now have no specific dates to hit for the next couple of months so we can just meander at our own sweet pace. I would expect tomorrow’s mileage to be even less since I only want to get as far as Kilby Bridge and that is only just over 2 miles up the canal (although there are 7 locks in the way!). That will then give us a weekday transit through Leicester so reducing the chance of any problem kids.

It has been interesting just how quiet it has been on the canal, no more than half a dozen boats on the move all day, and one of them was the trip boat at Foxton. Probably the fact that it is still quite chilly may be deterring some boaters.
