Today was a gentle cruise through Leicester, it’s quite pleasant how rural it seems almost until you get almost into the city centre. The weather held up OK, no rain and intermittent sunshine. We originally tried mooring at Castle Gardens but that involved doubling up with another boat on the mooring since all 4 spaces were taken. I’m not sure that the boat we moored with was that keen on the idea but fortunately, after mooring, I took a walk from Castle Gardens to Friar’s Mills and sure enough there were two free moorings on a pontoon so we cast off and made our way there. The moorings as so new that they aren’t even shown on Google Earth.

As an interesting turn around, after being moored for an hour or so, another hire boat came along with a private boat, the private boat fitted in front of us but the hire boat was left with no-where to moor, so we extended the offer for them to moor alongside us, so we have gone from being the outside moorer on a breast up to the inside moorer on a breast up.
