Dunsley

Here I am Rune
Distance 5.1 miles
Total 5175 Locks  419 Tunnels
Running total mileage 7869.3 miles

Again, in fine weather, a gentle autumnal cruise to an area called ‘The Hyde’ but I’ve put us down as Dunsley, although it could also be classed as Kinver. We have an open outlook to a field of sheep and from what we can hear there is a buzzard flying around nearby. It is the sort of out of the way rural mooring that I do enjoy when narrowboating.

Just the one night hear though and then back to Stourbridge for the weekend, and the shopping. I may well pop into the Crystal Leisure centre for a swim as I’ve missed out on my swim so far this week.

  1. Your mooring sounds like the one on the wide bend between Hyde lock and Dunsley tunnel. The permanent moorers at Kinver call it The Beeches. We love it there - also walking distance from Kinver if you need shopping.

    1. Yes, it was just before the wide bend you speak of, the last mooring before getting under the low trees, but very pleasant, just the same. We followed that with the Wordsley mooring the following night on a random piece of 60' armco (just right for our length of boat). We had the pleasure of 10 shire horses in the field opposite (they were quiet neighbours)
