St Ives

Here I am Rune

Distance 7.2 miles

Total 4091 Locks  264 Tunnels

Running total mileage 6,121.3 miles

A comfortable run along a pleasant piece of river bringing us to St Ives where we have managed to moor just below the bridge. Once again a fortunate piece of mooring since just as we arrived into the town another boat was moving off from the mooring, so the mooring was empty for a whole 30 seconds.

We stopped off at Jones Boatyard as we entered St Ives to visit the chandlery to get a seal for the Thetford Cassette which had started to leak. It is noticeable that as you get further up the Ouse, there are more and more cruisers and less and less narrowboats. When I turned into the Jones Boatyard marina, I seemed to be the only narrowboat in there, which tends to make cruiser skippers a bit nervous. We got what we wanted and left without any drama though.

Tomorrow we should comfortably get to Huntingdon, even it we start late after another look around St Ives before going.
