An absolutely splendid day to be autumnal cruising, bright sunshine, no hint of rain, relatively quiet canals, what more can you ask for. The only place it was busy was around the locks, but that seemed to work very much to our advantage. The Bascote staircase and Bascote middle and bottom locks we managed to get through in just 35 minutes. There was a boat coming up the staircase as we were arriving so the crew for that we filling the top lock for us to go in. We passed in the staircase and for both of the other locks there were boats coming up, so each was already set for us, with the hire boat crews hurrying things along. As said previously, I’m in no real rush, but will take advantage of such things when they crop up.
Tomorrow it’ll be Warwick at Saltersford.
