Shirley

Here I am Rune
Distance 10.1 miles
Total 3751 Locks  240 Tunnels
Running total mileage 5595.9 miles

Have kept up to expectations and are now moored by Shirley lift bridge, as intended. Counting the tunnels today it is always a bit debatable to include Broad Street ‘tunnel’ since it is only 83 yards long and it is also now known as Black Sabbath Bridge, but as I’ve counted it as a tunnel before, I’ll count it as a  tunnel again.
It was an ideal autumnal day for cruising, bright sunshine, no wind to speak of, and enough boats on the move to keep it interesting. The route out of Birmingham via the Worcester and Birmingham Canal is probably one of the most pleasant canal routes into Birmingham, out past the University and Cadburys/Bourneville.

My intention tomorrow is for a fairly short day, as far as Hockley Heath, taking us down the Lapworth Flight of locks on Saturday.
