Pinkhill Lock

Here I am Rune
Distance 4 miles
Total 2106 Locks  90 Tunnels
Running total mileage 2994.9 miles

Given the weather of yesterday (Saturday) we wisely decided to remain at Kings Lock until today before pressing on towards Lechlade. A point of interest on today’s cruise however was avoiding running over the 90 swimmers who were taking part in the Lock to Lock swim from Babcock Hythe to Kings Lock. We were advised by the lockie at Kings Lock that it was considered ‘bad form’ to arrive at Pinkhill Lock with a swimmer stuck to the bows! Despite the fact that some of the swimmers were in the middle of the river, we managed to miss all of them.

The next section of river is interesting according to my river map, principally for it’s lack of potential mooring places so at the moment I’m not sure of where we will get to for tomorrow night’s mooring. I think that the likely stopping point will be Shifford Lock but then the mooring there is charged. We’ll have to see how it pans out.
