Chimney Meadows

Here I am
Distance 9.4 miles
Total 2108 Locks  90 Tunnels
Running total mileage 3003.3 miles

For tonight we’ve found probably one of our most isolated moorings, by my reckoning the nearest farm track is about a kilometre away and the nearest road of any significance is about 1.5 miles (both as the crow flies). Definitely not a place to be taken ill as the only way out would be by air ambulance! The distinctive plus side however is that it really is peaceful here.

The mooring is about where I wanted to be since it is now something like 9 miles to Kelsmscott where  William Morris once lived so we’ll be stopping off there on Wednesday (only open Wednesdays and Saturdays). That’ll give us an arrival in Lechlade on Thursday and then trun around and return to the Oxford Canal by the weekend.

Small point of interest that we have now crossed the 3000 mile threshold, still a long way to go to have travelled the entire system.
