So, after our brief sojourn at Selly Oak, and unwisely ignoring the weather forecast, we set off this morning bound for Shirley. The weather was fine to start with but rain soon moved in although it was just heavy drizzle. No real incidents on todays route although I was quite surprised to see either 3 very large moths, or 3 small bats flying around in Brandwood tunnel. I’ve done one or two tunnels but it is the first time I’ve come across them fluttering around in one.

Plan for tomorrow will be to first stop at the Wedges Bakery at Earlswood for some of their excellent bread, and then press on to just beyond Hockley Heath where we turn around before the top of the Lapworth flight. We may then convey an Elsan Cassette down the flight (on a trailer) to empty at Kingswood Customer Service Facility.
