Tunnels
Running total mileage 3193 miles
Today was about as far as you’d want to travel during the
short days of Autumn/Winter. Twelve and a half miles, 5 locks and a tunnel (and
a couple of swing bridges!). It was a long day’s work starting at 10.10am and
finishing as it began to get dark with no lunch break! The reason for the
extended effort was the need to get to Market Harborough to pick up an online
order and to be in a position to get the weekend shopping tomorrow morning.
Once that is done we will make our way back to Foxton and, if we are in time to
go up tomorrow we’ll moor at the top of the flight, if not we’ll moor at the
bottom and wait until Sunday to go up.
On the trip today we seemed to be ‘plagued’ by Kingfishers,
by my count we seem to have seen 6 different birds, and, despite having a
camera to hand, didn’t manage to get any photos of any of them. I think that
they are particularly camera shy since as soon as you get a camera out they are
gone.Have to say that they are brilliantly coloured birds though, they look almost tropical.
