We did indeed need to light the fire last night as the temperature had dropped, and even earlier, we have lit the fire again today at 4.30pm. It was like Spring a week or so ago and now it is back to being wintry.
As we have a schedule to keep to to get to Liverpool, we have pressed on today, despite quite strong winds although they only become a problem if you have to stop, particularly on the leeward side of the canal. Fortunately we didn’t have to so it was a fairly uneventful trip.
There were a lot more boats on the move than we saw on the first day travelling from Halesowen to Bentley Bridge, but then the Shropshire Union is quite a popular canal.
Tomorrow we hope to get to Market Drayton.
